Law No. 12 of 2024 on Qatarisation of jobs in the private sector came into effect on 17 April 2025. It requires entities within its scope to employ, train, and qualify Qatari jobseekers in line with plans and policies set by the Ministry of Labour. If no suitable Qatari candidate is available, priority is given to children of Qatari women.
For non-compliance, the law permits measures including written warnings, suspension of Ministry transactions for up to three months, and financial penalties under the applicable schedule. More serious penalties may apply where fraudulent methods or false information are used to misrepresent compliance or obtain benefits unlawfully.
